Pocket Fortune Brand & Website Design

Role: Lead UX Designer (research, interaction design, visual design, branding).
LENGTH OF PROJECT: 1 WEEK.
Project date: January 2017.

TASK OVERVIEW

Pocket Fortune was a new sub-brand of online and mobile casino gaming brand, mFortune. The company was growing quickly in 2016 and were keen to add a new, more fun brand to their portfolio. I was given creative freedom to build a brand that was fun and exciting but that still fit in with the design style of the companies 3 other casino brands. I was given 1 week to create a logo along with a mobile and desktop design for their website.

Blabbering

User centred design. Research - other 3 brands. What was wrong with them and how were they built as it was going to be on the same in house platform. What are the users need s when visiting this site? Gamble, cheaply and easily. Have fun, they want to win. None of the sites were mobile friendly, buttons hidden underneath hover effects. Mobile first. Understand areas of improvement on current websites. The games are all hosted on iTunes for mobile but you can also play them on desktop. The brand needs to be bright, colourful and eye catching. What does fortune mean and what do people think of when they hear it? Luck, chance, riches. I wanted the brand to be able to sit on a coloured background and a white background and pop on both. Users have to register before they play so this needs to be obvious and easy. Constant design narrative. Modern, progressive design that inspires trust but it still entertaining. Competitor research - Jackpots are visible and people gravitate towards these. Some of the games they had on site were a bit dates in design style but you could see newer ones launching with a much more modern feel. None of the current brands felt modern so i based the brand around these newer games.

First step - Create the brand and build the website design around this.
